Less than three weeks ahead of its biggest celebration, the Pella Historical Society has seen a change in leadership.
Kathleen Miller resigned from her position as executive director April 14th, effective immediately. The society’s board approved the change Monday night.
Pella Historical Society President Lori Ellingson tells KNIA/KRLS News Miller resigned after nearly three years with the organization.
“We wish her the best,” Ellingson says. “She moved our museum and our society forward with her curatorial experience and knowledge of restoration for artifacts, and we’re really grateful for all that she provided for the society.”
According to the board, Miller left for personal reasons.
“Kathy’s family never moved to Pella–they stayed in the Quad Cities area, and this has been tricky for Kathy to maintain family relationships, family ties and work so many hours here in Pella,” Ellingson says. “And I think that the decision was made that she just really needed to stay with her family.”
Assistant Director Allison Limke has assumed the director’s role in the interim.
Board members say there will be no long-term replacement plan until after the Tulip Time celebration in May.
