Following approval of a change to the construction contract for a new Jordan Aquifer well in Pella, the first component of the city’s long term water supply plan is complete.
Finance Director Corey Goodenow says the well located at Idaho Drive is the first of three phases of the overall plan, and was effectively completed with the final anticipated change order approved at the council meeting Tuesday.
The city is in the midst of completing a roughly $9 million reverse osmosis water treatment plant specially used to treat the well water.
A public hearing date was also set in June for the final phase of the project — a new water main aimed to transfer water in and out of the system.
The overall initiative will cost nearly $16 million, and is expected to be done by Fall 2017.
