In its tenth year, the Hampshire Society and the National Football Foundation has chosen three members of the Central football team to receive academic honors for 2015-16. The society honors and recognizes senior student-athletes in football who are starters or significant reserves that carry at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Wide receiver Taylor Cox, tight end Jake Wassenaar, and Curtis Weeks were the three Dutch players recognized. Cox holds a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. Normally, Central heads up the Iowa Conference with the most players on the esteemed list, having done so seven of the last nine years. However, the Dutch have just 12 seniors this year. The 2015 season saw Central go 6 – 4 overall, and they’ll open up 2016 with a game in Spokane, Washington on September 3 against Whitworth.
