Representative Greg Heartsill tells KNIA/KRLS News that while he is supportive of expanded cannabidoil use in medical applications for Iowans, progress on the issue is slow because the legislature is moving cautiously in order to avoid recreational use.

Legislators want to ensure the use is expanded cautiously and closely controlled with government oversight. The amendment would have expanded legal use in the state to those with chronic pain related to cancer, HIV, ALS and many terminal diseases. Heartsill hopes to see the amendment taken up again.
