Thirteen innings. Nearly twice the scheduled length of the requisite seven-frame game the opener of an Iowa Conference doubleheader is supposed to go. Central and Loras’ baseball teams played an over three-hour game that resulted in the Dutch claiming a 4 – 3 win in the opener of their final two games of the season. The Dutch committed five errors, two of which allowed the Duhawks’ first run of the game to score in the first. Another error prolonged a third inning to make it 2 – 0 Loras. Ryan Bouwman connected on another home run in the sixth inning to tie the game up at two per side. Both squads scored a run in the tenth inning, and Kyle Crampton had the game-winning hit in the 13th after Loras intentionally walked Mike Reuter with two outs and a runner at a second. Noah Stochl had Central’s only two hits in their final game of the season, in which they lost, 2 – 1. Central’s season finished with a 10 – 30 record overall and a 7 – 21 mark in the Iowa Conference. Coach Matt Schirm will say goodbye to seven seniors.
