This week is Police Week, a time to reflect on officers who have paid the ultimate price for the safety of others.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says being a police officer and helping people is among the highest callings a person can have. However, Losada notes it can be traumatic, he has been to a number officer’s funerals and notes that deaths in the line of duty are a tremendous burden, but law enforcement is still a great profession. It’s a unique position, Losada explains, because you have a tremendous amount of power in the community and must use it wisely.
