A Knoxville man faces two felony drug charges following an arrest in Pella Tuesday morning.

Steven Allan Schakel, 46, was charged with a controlled substance violation — intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class B felony, and failure to affix drug tax stamp, a class D felony, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

Pella officers were called to Country Inn and Suites at approximately 8 a.m. for a person on drugs. They found Schakel in a vehicle sitting in the parking lot.

Police say he attempted to hide a piece of foil when they approached, and when asked about what was inside, he admitted to officers there were drugs. Following a search, officers found 12.9 grams of methamphetamine and over $8200 in cash.

Bond was set at $106,000 and an initial court appearance is scheduled for May 20th.
