An early deficit proved too much for Knoxville Baseball on Tuesday night in a home conference game against Centerville that was played two hours early due to inclement weather in the forecast as Centerville defeated Knoxville 6-5. The visiting Big Reds scored three unearned runs in the first inning, then twice more in the third. The lead would grow to 6-0 in the fifth inning, before Knoxville would mount a comeback. Rylan Cox would walk to start the rally, and Ben Wallace delivered a two RBI base hit to pull the Panthers within one run at 6-5 after five complete innings. Knoxville would have the tying run on base in both the sixth and seventh innings, but double plays ended each threat. Ben Wallace took the loss on the mound working the first two innings. Tanner Sharp worked three strong innings in relief for Knoxville. Knoxville falls to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the South Central Conference. Knoxville Baseball is back in action again tonight at home against Oskaloosa.
