Local people and businesses are supporting The Well, which currently has a major construction project underway at 419 East Oskaloosa Street.

Both Vermeer Corporation and Precision Pulley and Idler (PPI) have provided construction labor through their volunteer time-off programs in which they pay their employees for hours they work for local nonprofit organizations. In addition, both companies have provided industrial equipment to help remodel the building.

“Vermeer and the Vermeer Charitable Foundation considers it important for team members to help to build up the communities in which they live,” said Kevin Glesener, head chaplain for Vermeer Corporation. “Vermeer is dedicated to having a positive, personal impact on people and communities around the world, and The Well provides a perfect opportunity for us to help do that locally.”

PPI Human Resources Vice President Greg Stravers said, “We like what The Well is doing to coordinate the services that Pella has provided over the years in order to better address issues of poverty. Their goals fit with PPI and our values.”

Recently, PPI also provided a monetary gift. Projected total cost for the purchase of the building and for reconstruction is $900,000. About a third of that total has already been pledged.

The Well Resource Center, Pella Community Food Shelf, Pella Good Samaritan Free Medical Clinic, and Pella/Marion County Senior Meals Program are all scheduled to move to the renovated facility this summer.
