A Knoxville man has been been charged after allegedly breaking into a home and stealing the contents of a safe and other property valued at over $50,000.
Officers were called to a home in the 600 block of East Robinson Wednesday. The house had been ransacked and the homeowner identified that a small safe containing a large sum of cash, jewelry and money orders was missing. A small cash box containing $200 was also absent. Casey James Van Donsler was identified as a suspect in the theft. A storage unit belonging to Van Donsler was searched and items from the safe with a value of $10,000 were recovered on Thursday. Van Donsler is charged with theft in the first degree, a class C Felony and burglary in the 3rd degree, a class D felony.
