The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Knoxville Police Department cooperated to stop and arrest a man and woman who fled from Monroe County Deputies after a high speed chase that ranged through much of two counties.
A Monroe Deputy attempted to stop the pair for excessive speed on Highway 5 Friday afternoon, but they accelerated and temporarily eluded law enforcement. The Iowa State Patrol, Knoxville Police Department, Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement and Marion County Sheriff’s office joined the chase, which concluded east of Knoxville in the 1900 block of Old Highway 92, when the vehicle’s steering wheel came off and they lost control. The car crashed into a ditch and officers apprehended them peacefully, according to Sheriff Jason Sandholdt. Quenton Queen and Alicia were taken into custody. Queen is charged with eluding police, driving while suspended, two counts of excessive speed, no insurance, failure to obey traffic control device, driving on the wrong side of the highway, failure to maintain control, failure to use turn signal, improper rear lamps, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance and reckless driving. Choate had a warrant in Wapello County. They were transported to the Marion County Jail.
