The Pleasantville Pig-out kicked off last night and continues today. City Manager Joe Mrstik says the event began as a way to raise money for youth activities in Pleasantville and every dollar since its inception has gone to parks and recreation.
As it has grown the Pleasantville Pig-out has also become a way to showcase the Pleasantville community. Mrstik often hears from visitors who are impressed with city during Pig-out. Last night’s festivities included a barbecue feed, greased pig contest, craft beer garden and music. This morning will feature the barbecue contest and car show beginning downtown at 10 a.m. KNIA/KRLS’s Little Big Red Radio will be playing music and making announcements Saturday morning. The city is hosting the 6th annual two day event.
