Participating in their second tournament of the 2016 season, the Pella High softball team lost just once in three games at Oskaloosa on Saturday. Following a tough, late loss at the hands of Grinnell on Friday, Pella bounced back and nabbed a 6 – 1 win over West Burlington to begin the day. Kinzi Van Wyk was the winning pitcher, while Courtney Thompson and Lydia Dingeman each contributed two hits offensively. The Lady Dutch stayed close with Albia in game two, but fell, 6 – 4. Sara Tallman pounded out four hits, Sidnie Van Vark had three, but Sabrina Tallman gave up nine hits and struck out three to get stuck with the loss. Van Wyk was back on the mound in the finale, where Pella breezed by North Mahaska, 11 – 3. She allowed just four hits and struck out six, and four Lady Dutch had multi-hit games. Pella’s record stands at 6 – 5, and they’ll play at Pella Christian on Monday. You can hear the softball game on KNIAKRLS.com via our KRLS2 stream.
