It’s now back-to-back state tournament trips for the No. 1 ranked Pella High girls’ soccer team.

They shutout Burlington Notre Dame 4-0 yesterday in the Regional Final at home to earn their 11th appearance at state. Pella had a pair of goals from Ciara Buchheit, who told KNIA/KRLS Sports after the game they hope to move further than they did one year ago, but they are still enjoying reaching a major milestone.

“It’s just awesome, and just all the hard work the girls have put in this season just pays off,” she says.

Katie Vander Molen and Maddie Canfield also tacked on scores for the Lady Dutch.

Pella will face a Newton team they went to penalty kicks with earlier this season in the quarterfinals round. The Little Hawkeye Conference foes will play Thursday at 3:15 on Field #9 at the Cownie Sports Park in Des Moines.
