The Knoxville Baseball Squad had a much harder fought win than the Panthers bargained for last night against Clarke, as Knoxville had to go extra innings to defeat the Indians 9-8 on an RBI single by Ben Wallace in the eighth inning. The Panthers started off good enough as they led 3-0 after one inning and looked to be on their way. However, Clarke responded with five runs in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead. The Panthers struggled with pitching and errors throughout the first half of the game. Clarke eventually chased away Panthers starter Rylan Cox, but Kaleb Streigel got things back under control on the mound and limited Clarke through the middle innings. Knoxville Assistant Coach Tyler Pearson told KNIA/KRLS Streigel was key in the win. Wallace went 3/5 at the plate three RBI, Blake McClung was also 3/5 and scored the game winner from second base. Knoxville is now 5-5 on the season and 5-1 in the South Central Conference and has sole possession of first place with a big doubleheader Wednesday at Chariton.
