A new security entrance will be installed at Jefferson Intermediate School this summer.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling says that includes moving most of the offices to the front of the building.

“It’ll be similar to the rest of our buildings,” he says. “Right now, you could actually walk into the school without ever having to go to the office.”

Ebeling says the transformation will be noticeable as crews work to have the new entry complete by late August.

“They’re working on the foundations there, they’ll be ready to put starting steel up,” he says. “Most of that project will be complete by the end of the summer.”

“There’s going to be a skylight that’s going to be put in that area…that order’s about twelve weeks out, so at the very beginning, first days of school a skylight might have to be installed.”

Jefferson Intermediate’s improvements are part of more than $40 million in overall construction and renovation projects in the Pella Community School District approved three years ago.
