Eight individuals from Marion County have been honored for exemplary volunteer service by Governor Branstad.

At the 33rd Annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards, Curt Schwanebeck, Captain Ronald Hayes Ret., Dylan Morse, Larry Collins, Kenneth Ward, Marilee Richardson, Ken Mergen and Carla Eysink were recognized for exemplary leadership, exceptional commitment to volunteerism, and outstanding contributions to community service. Knoxville Hospital and Clinics was honored as an organization. The ceremony was held Tuesday morning at Southeast Polk High School. Volunteers contribute 80 million hours of service and have an economic impact of $2 billion annually in Iowa.
