Drought conditions remain in place for the third straight week, according to the latest national drought monitor.
A moderate, short-term drought is still reported in Marion, Jasper, Mahaska, Monroe, and Lucas Counties after a hot, dry June. Rainfall received after Tuesday, July 5th was not counted in the tally, with nearly an inch falling in Pella and other areas receiving between a quarter and half an inch of precipitation.
