Rain last week wasn’t enough to significantly dent a moderate drought in south central Iowa, but more coming this week may continue to help vegetation.
Large areas of central and southern Iowa are as much as 8 to 10 inches behind on precipitation for the year.
Early this morning, 1.6 inches of precipitation was recorded at our KNIA/KRLS studios in Knoxville, just under 9/10 of an inch of rain fell in downtown Pella overnight, 1.11 fell at Lake Red Rock, and 1.39 was recorded at Whitebreast Creek near Melcher-Dallas.
According to the National Weather Service, up to another inch and a half of rain may fall through Thursday morning countywide. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
