The two teams played one another as if they both deserved to go to state. And, truly, both Pella Christian and Regina High’s softball teams turned in performances that could have sent either squad to Fort Dodge next week. Unfortunately for Eagles’ fans, the Regals had the timely hits when PC could not come through themselves in the clutch. Pella Christian had runners at first and second in the third inning, and only a deep fly out from Courtney Johannes and a wild pitch scored the game’s lone tally for the Eagles. Coach Karen Harrill says they were right there the entire time, and wishes the bats would have woken up at the right times on Monday. It was by no stretch of the imagination a horrible season for Pella Christian’s gals. They went 6 – 6 in a conference where six of the seven teams were ranked this year, and they only lost to two non-Class 4A opponents all season long.
