Flooding Near Washington Street in Pella. Video submitted by local listener.
Heavy rain prompted a flash flood warning in Marion County earlier today.
Over two inches of rain fell in both Pella and Knoxville in the afternoon. The video above shows flooded alleyways and driveways along Washington Street between East 1st and Hazel in Pella. Neighborhood residents report the excessive water flow has happened four times since last week. Upgrades to the sewer system along the stretch of road are ongoing, and the City of Pella has attempted to assist homeowners in the area battle some of the flooding.
Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky says numerous cars stalled out in roadways as the storm was passing through due to rain falling faster than it can be drained and covering some streets in town.
