Six Knoxville Baseball Players earned Gold Glove awards at the recent awards banquet. Ben Wallace, Jack McDonald, Ryan Cox, Trent Davis, Justin Little and Jacob Zuck all had fielding percentages of at least 939 with the highest being Davis’s 985. Coach Joel Johnson tells KNIA/KRLS while there will be holes to fill next year, he is glad that all six Gold Glove winners will be back next summer. Johnson adds the area that need the most improvement is pitching. He hopes to get Cam Liston back next year on the mound. Liston was hampered with an elbow injury this season, while he contributed at the plate, the injury all but shut him down as a pitcher. Johnson says the pitchers now need to not just hit the plate, but to hit specific spots on the plate and the strike zone. Knoxville finished 19-and-18 this season and won its second straight South Central Conference title.
