The Pleasantville Trojan Baseball Team hasn’t been blowing teams away offensively this postseason, but still the end results are going the Trojans way.
The Trojans so far this postseason has been taking advantage of other teams mistakes at an astounding rate. Against Albia the in the district semifinal, the Trojans would put across early runs due to errors out in the field. In the substate game that sent Pleasantville to the state tournament only one run was scored all game, it happened in the first in unusual circumstances.
Leadoff hitter Zeb Adreon was hit by a pitch to start the game, and then coach Card gave the sign for the class 2A runner up in hits Brock Busick to lay down a sacrifice bunt. The gamble paid off as Ethan Worthington would put score Adreon on an RBI single. Coach Card told KNIA/KRLS Sports that they way his team shows grit out there by getting on base any way they can is a huge factor in the teams success. The Trojans will play in the quarterfinal round of the State Tournament on Monday at 5pm. The game will be broadcast live on AM1320 and FM95.3 KNIA.
