Pella High and Pella Christian both had one representative in their respective class’ Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association All-State Softball Team for 2016. Lady Dutch senior, Sara Tallman, was chosen for the First Team All-State in Class 4A. During a 15 – 19 campaign, Tallman helped Pella out with a .514 average, stealing 16 bases, walking 15 times, and hitting six doubles. For the Eagles, Elizabeth Van Manen was picked to represent the third team All-State in Class 2A. Van Manen hit for a team-high .432 average, with six homers, 28 RBI, 11 doubles, and three triples in 2016. Van Manen will be back for her senior year starting this fall, while Tallman will begin her collegiate journey with Coach George Wares and Central softball.
