Just about a year ago, everyone was saying Sammy Swindell was washed up, and needed to simply retire. He even announced he was retiring. But a funny thing happened, Swindell started winning races, and running up front. Last night, Swindell showed that a 60 year old driver still has it as he lead by lap eight on to win the 26th Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Nationals. Clint Garner took the initial lead form his pole starting spot, but Swindell was able to run by him by lap eight and never relinquished the lead. Even a late race yellow was not enough for Danny Lasoski to catch Swindell. Swindell said Saturday was only his fourth night in the car owned by A.G. Raines and there is a lot to be taken care of driving for a different owner. Lasoski would settle for second place with Garner in third with Terry McCarl and Ian Madsen rounding out the top five. Tonight is night four of Southern Iowa Sprint Week as over 70 cars will run in tonight’s Capitani Classic. Join us for all the action with Live Track Side at five and Race Night’s Live at seven on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA and kniakrls.com.
