On Monday, Pella Regional Health Center begins a construction project to relocate and expand the Obstetrics Unit.
The new unit will be located on a third floor addition above the Medical/Surgical and Intensive Care area.
Chief Nursing Officer Yvonne O’Brien Evans says they’ve been working on meeting the growth of the department for two years, including an expansion in staff that makes Pella Regional among the largest OB departments in the region.
“After several months of research, our Obstetrics physicians and nursing staff developed a plan that will be large enough and function well enough to last for many years to come. We look forward to continued growth with our Obstetrics program, providing the same high quality care as we have in past years,” O’Brien Evans says.
Obstetrics Manager Karen Westercamp says expansion of physical space is part of upcoming construction, as are other noticeable upgrades.
“Our outstanding obstetrics physicians and experienced nursing staff are looking forward to providing a unique experience for our new and expanding families in a brand new, larger and more efficient department,” said Westercamp.
Plans include more rooms for labor/delivery and postpartum, additional space in the nursery, and expanded nursing station and waiting areas
Project completion is scheduled for Fall 2017.
