Last year, the Central College volleyball team had 5 new starters among the 7 in the lineup. This year, 6 starters are returning.
Coach Kent Clayberg is excited about the familiar talent that’s worked its way through the Dutch program.
“Between Shannon Stuart and Gretchen Kistenmacher and Nicole Ewoldt, we do have some very very strong leadership in that group. And you’re right, that junior class is a big, powerful group. There’s a lot to be excited about, for not just this year, but for the coming years that we’ve kind of gotten into a steadier flow of year-by-year growth.”
After upsetting preseason favorite Buena Vista in last year’s league opener, the Dutch struggled to a 1-6 Iowa Conference record, and were 15-18 overall.
They’ll open the 2016 campaign over Labor Day weekend at the Clarkson University tournament in Potsdam, New York.
