A security guard and his girlfriend have been charged for recent thefts from Central College.
Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky says campus security officer Parker Bollhoefer, 20, and his girlfriend Lyndi Littrel, 18, were identified as suspects and charged with 1st degree theft, a class C felony.
Last week, officers were advised by Central College staff there had been a considerable number of items recently stolen from the Spirit Shoppe and other locations on campus. Listed among the stolen property was a wedding party sheet cake, merchandise from the Spirit Shoppe, and a large flat screen television.
On Thursday, the Pella Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at the W. 3rd St. residence of Bollhoefer and Littrel. The stolen television, $9000 worth of Central College fan gear, five stolen bicycles, and the remnants of the cake were found, according to police.
Investigators believe Bollhoefer used his access as a security guard to carry out the thefts, and claim Littrel was culpable and aware of her boyfriend’s activities.
The two turned themselves into the Pella Police Department Monday, where they were formally charged and released with a court date.
