Every fall a new school year begins and with it a new fall sports season and for the Pleasantville Trojans that’s no different.
But there is one major difference this season for the Pleasantville volleyball team, a new coach takes over for the Pleasantville program. A program that saw only two wins in 25 chances a year ago. Head Coach Jennifer Douma takes over for the Trojans after a 2015 season that saw the Trojans lose 16 straight games to finish the season after getting their first and only two wins within their first 8 games. Coach Douma has a big mountain to climb if she wants to turn this Trojan program around. So far the first two game of the 2016 season haven’t gone the Trojans way as they dropped both games. The hope is that with hard work in practice this Trojan team can get some positive results to lean on and build off of. One positive note though, the Trojans will not have to wait long to face one of the teams they did beat a year ago as they will play Lynnville-Sully on September 10th in a tournament at Twin Cedars. But before the Trojans look to that match up, they will take on Martensdale-St Marys next Tuesday September 6th in Pleasantville and try to get a W in the win column. The Pleasantville Trojan Volleyball team isn’t where they want to be yet, but with a new coach, new attitude, and some hard work, they might just start to turn things around soon.
