Having played what could potentially be their toughest opponent of the season in week 1, the PCM Mustang Football Team is preparing to pick up win number one of the season against Montezuma tomorrow. A big component in their plans for a win? Their young defense, which at times stepped up in big ways against a tremendous Pella Christian offense.
The Eagles scored two special teams touchdowns, and then with seven total turnovers by PCM the Mustangs defense was certainly put to the test, and with such a young defense Head Coach Greg Bonnett said that he was impressed with how well they stayed with Pella Christian. He went on to say that a lot of his guys are getting some of their first Varsity experience, and they will continue to learn throughout the season.
“We got five sophomores out there on defense right now and they’re gonna learn. They are playing at a high level right now and I always say if you are not getting better you are getting worse so they know what they gotta do so we are gonna come back and recharge and be a pretty good football team.”
The Mustangs travel to Montezuma tomorrow to take on the Braves. The game will be broadcast live on KNIAKRLS.com via the KNIA2 stream with Nathan Sage and Jeff Lindsay on the call.
