The Pella Police Department is accepting applications for the 3rd class of the Citizens Police Academy.
The eight-week academy starting September 12th meets Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Public Safety Training Room on Liberty Street.
Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky says the purpose of the Citizens Police Academy is to foster a strong and lasting relationship between the Police Department and the community.
Bokinsky says they will offer instruction on a wide range of topics, including narcotics investigations, use of firearms, crime scene processing and evidence recovery, defensive tactics, and traffic enforcement.
Applications are available at the Pella Police Department or may be downloaded at www.cityofpella.com. Class size is limited to facilitate hands-on practical training for attendees.
