The Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Marion County (HFHMCI) has accepted the resignation of Lisa Crabbs as their executive director.
“We have been blessed to have Lisa lead our organization these past 4 years.”, shared Board President Ryan Vos. “We are sad to see her go, but excited for her and her family as she enters the next chapter of her life and career. We are so grateful for the dedication, compassion, and leadership she brought to our Habitat community.”
Crabbs says she appreciates the opportunity and the experiences she’s had while serving as the leader of the volunteer organization:
“I am very appreciative that the board of directors and Lisa Houser decided to hire me more than four years ago. While working for Habitat, I’ve been repeatedly humbled by tough relationships, financial challenges, and acknowledging my own weaknesses as a director and person. However, for as many hurdles that tried to slow Habitat’s progress, I’ve been deeply affected by people who give of themselves without hesitation. Whether it’s volunteers on build sites, board members who become more personally involved, staff who volunteer their time on weekends, Habitat home owners who are trying to make better lives for their families, or people who just believe in the cause, they become involved because it’s their instinct to help another human being. Before working here, I never gave much thought to the name Habitat for Humanity; now, I don’t think there could be a more appropriate name for the bonds created by lifting one another. These experiences have softened me, and I am thankful to every person I have met because they contributed to that change.”
Existing staff will evaluate the current leadership needs soon. Habitat for Humanity of Marion County currently has their 50th Habitat Home in Marion County under construction and the organization is preparing for their 20th Anniversary in 2017.
