With Indianola in the mix, the Little Hawkeye Conference added a school with multiple competitive teams, and the Pella Lady Dutch volleyball squad may be uniquely aware of what the Indians can do.
Prior to last year’s state trip, Pella’s season ended in both 2013 and 2014 against their new conference foes in the playoffs.
Head Coach Catie Brand’s club gets its first look at the Indians as an LHC opponent tonight and, she says that there’s extra motivation, as many of the seniors on this year’s team remember losing those past playoff games.
“Two years ago, we played them in the regional semifinal and lost to them in a very close match to four,” she says. “And we have seniors like Katie Vander Molen and Kiara Bradley that remember that, and so they’re anxious to have Indianola be a part of our conference picture and get to play them because we know they’re a high caliber team.”
Brand says one of the main goals this year is to win the Little Hawkeye Conference title. The Lady Dutch are off to a good start with a 2-0 league record as part of their 10-4 overall mark.
First serve is tonight at 7:15 at Indianola High School.
