The Marion County Road Department’s experimental four day work week is being called a great success by County Engineer Tyler Christian.
Christian says the policy of four ten hour days Monday through Thursday, implemented with the Bridge and Pavement Crew, has been successful in reducing costs, increasing productivity and raising morale among employees. Weekly reports on productivity showed as much as a thirty percent increase in work accomplished. Christian says the crew took initiative and worked even harder than usual, knowing they would have an extra day to recover. Christian would like to see the policy expanded to more crews next summer.
