A Knoxville man has been arrested after the attempted stabbing of a police officer.
On Friday, a Knoxville officer spoke with a victim who reported harassing messages and thefts she said had been perpetrated by Matthew Jordan Heck. The victim reported that Heck had emptied her bank account using fraudulent checks in the amount of $1,500 and broke into her home to steal items valued at $600. She also said Heck had threatened to burn her house down with her inside and the victim believed he was going to strike her based on statements and movements toward her he made.
Officers located Heck later in the evening and interviewed him about the incidents. When Heck was told he was being arrested, he said “this isn’t going to be easy,” and tried to pull a knife from his pocket. An officer grabbed Heck’s wrist, got the knife from him, and controlled his arms to place him in handcuffs.
A search of Heck also turned up a glass pipe which tested positive for methamphetamine residue.
Heck is charged with six felonies, including assault while participating in a felony, burglary in the 3rd degree, making threats of arson, interference with official acts, theft in the 2nd degree, and going armed with intent, among other crimes.
