Local high school cross country teams took to the Gateway Golf Course on Thursday in Monroe.
The PCM Mustangs hosted the event with Knoxville, Pella Christian, Pleasantville and Twin Cedars all in attendance. On the boys side of things PCM’s Senior Chris Ellens would win the meet with a time of 17:16. The 15th ranked runner in Class 2A would finish just ahead of Pella Christians Senior Grant Dunsbergen who was the top finisher for the Eagles. Knoxville’s Cade McNeill would finish 9th and Justin Little 11th for the top finishers for the Panthers. Josh Pulse from Pleasantville would be the top finisher for the Trojans at 18th. Twin Cedars top finisher was Colton Spaur at 47th. Des Moines Christian would go on to win the event for the Boys with Knoxville finishing 2nd, Pella Christian 3rd PCM 8th, Twin Cedars 12th and Pleasantville 14th.
On the Girls side of things the PCM Mustangs would dominate on their home course with seven girls finishing in the top 20. Sophomores Payton Schut and Kirstin Ives were the top finishers for the Mustangs at 2nd and 5th and Senior Jayci Vos at 6th. Knoxville’s Mickayla McGill was the next top finisher for the local teams with a 7th place finish. Pella Christian’s Annaliese Admiraal was 24th and the top finisher for the Eagles. Mel Johnson at 36th was the top finisher for the Pleasantville Trojans. And for Twin Cedars Athena Bruns would finish 81st for the Sabers. The PCM Mustang girls would win the event with Pleasantville finishing 7th.
