The 80th edition of the Red Rock Rivalry was the most lopsided to date, as Pella beat Knoxville 63-0 in a game heard live on both KNIA & KRLS last night.

The Little Dutch outgained the Panthers 405 to negative three, and dominated in all phases of the game.

Pella Coach Jay McKinstrey was especially pleased with his offensive line, which paved the way for 269 yards rushing and gave both Nick Finney and Ryan Gustafson time in the pocket to throw.

“Back in August, we said that it was going to take some time for those guys to keep developing because we have a lot of inexperience there. But game after game after game they keep getting better and doing the right things. They certainly did a good job tonight in putting it on the field against Knoxville, and it was great to see them have a great game.”

Knoxville Coach Eric Kellar told KNIA/KRLS Sports after the game that his message to his team is purge this game from their memory and focus on next Friday.

“That one’s over and it got out of control. We get North Polk film up and we start focusing and we really feel like we have three winnable games. We need to just put our minds towards that.”

The Panthers fall to 1-5 and 0-4 in district play, while the Little Dutch are 6-0, 4-0. Pella has a first place showdown with Norwalk next Friday night, and Knoxville will look for its first district win at North Polk.
