The Central College women’s golf team rallied from 19 strokes down after the first two rounds to win the Iowa Conference golf championship Saturday afternoon.

The Dutch trailed Wartburg at the halfway point of the tournament, but shaved 18 strokes off on Friday before beating the Knights by 9 more strokes Saturday to win by 8.

Molly Timmerman finished fourth individually for Central, with teammate Brittany Coppess right behind in fifth.

It’s Central’s first women’s golf championship since 1990, and snaps Wartburg’s nine-year stranglehold on the title.
