
The first widespread frost of the fall is in the forecast Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, lows just above freezing are expected in Marion County and the surrounding area, with a hard freeze possible as well. A freeze warning is in effect in Marion County, Mahaska County, and the areas to the west and north. Sensitive vegetation will not survive if left unprotected.
Typically, the first frost of the season happens at the beginning of October, and the first hard freeze occurs no later than the fourth week of the month. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
