The Pella Opera House kicks off its 2016-17 season with a free viewing of ‘Screenagers’ on Thursday, October 20th at 7 p.m..
This documentary probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. In addition to the movie screening, there will be a panel of experts to answer questions and discuss further the topic that affects almost everyone. Panelists include members from the Pella community.
“We are very excited about this season and am especially thrilled to be able to offer this very important documentary to the community.” states Heidi Kelley, Executive Director.
Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time.
