Marion County Republican held forums at Monarch’s Restaurant in Pella and Coffee Connection in Knoxville on Saturday.
Marion County Attorney Ed Bull says there is a clear choice and contrast up and down the ticket. Marion County Supervisor Mark Raymie, State Senator Amy Sinclair, State Representative Greg Heartsill, Barbara Grassley representing Senator Chuck Grassley, U.S. Senator David Perdue Georgia Representative Guy Vander Linden and Republican Legislative Candidate Chris Peters all spoke at the event, contrasted themselves and those they represented with their opponents. Grassley encouraged forgiving Trump for some of the things he has said, because “Jesus said ‘he who is without sin cast the first stone’” and along with Senator Perdue emphasized the importance of the appointment of Conservative Justices to the Supreme Court. Perdue also praised the selection of Mike Pence, as Vice-President Candidate. Marion County Republican Committee Chair T. Waldmann-Williams said the small groups gathered for the forums gave voters the chance to engage one-on-one with candidates and elected officials. About a dozen people attended each event.
