Iowa’s winter heating season is rapidly approaching.
Local community action agencies are accepting applications from the elderly and disabled for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Other interested consumers can apply starting November 1. Eligibility is based on household size and income. Qualified applicants will receive a credit towards their heating bills and will not be disconnected from natural gas or electric service during the winter season, which runs from November 1 through April 1. Chris Hallinan with IMPACT Community Action Partnership says the credit is important to the well-being of families in tough economic conditions. The credit allows money saved to be spent on essential goods and services. Contact Red Rock Community Action for more information at 842-6571.
