A Knoxville High School Student was recently selected as a commended scholar in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Scott Molloy was among the top 5 percent of students who took the PSAT Qualifying Test last fall. 1.6 million students took the exam and only 34,000 were Commended Students. Molloy credits his academic success to the influence of his family. His two older sisters both received the same award when they were in school and he says a love a of learning was instilled in him at a young age. He says he remembers his father telling him amazing and interesting new facts about the world from the time he was five. Molloy tells KNIA/KRLS News he dreams of attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and studying biochemistry.
