Central College is bringing internationally known speaker and author Don Meyer, to campus for a two-day Sibshop event starting tomorrow.

Professor Anya Butt says sibshops provide siblings of children with special needs peer support and information in a lively, recreational setting.

On Friday, a community wide education event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m with a large-group discussion about the concerns and opportunities frequently experienced by brothers and sisters of people with special needs. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be a panel of adult siblings of people with disabilities.

This event is free and open to the public, due in part to grants from the Geisler-Penquite Foundation, Marion County Foundation, Mahaska County Foundation, Autism Society of Iowa and other sources.
