The Melcher-Dallas Public Library moved into its newly completed building Wednesday.

For the past three years, the library and the Friends of the Melcher-Dallas Public Library have been raising money through grants, donations and fundraisers. Librarian Lori Davis proudly says that no money from taxes went into the project. She was amazed at the community support for the library. The new facility includes a seating area, dedicated children’s library space, water fountains and more than three times the space of the past building. The moving effort saw the whole community pitch in, including Melcher-Dallas High School students, who were moving books, constructing shelves and organizing materials Wednesday morning. The new building solves range of issues including a crumbling infrastructure and space constraints in the old building just across the square.
