Students in the Career Academy of Pella welding class worked together to pay their respects to two officers killed in the Des Moines metro last week.

Welding student Drew Janssen says the classes worked on special sculptures to honor the fallen police. He says it was an important project to work on as a team and a way to honor law enforcement.

Welding Instructor Sheila Graham tells KNIA/KRLS News a group of boy scouts made the trip to Des Moines and Urbandale to dedicate the memorials, and they had a chance to speak with officers.
