Today is Winter Weather Preparedness Day in Iowa.

Meteorologist Ken Podrazik with the National Weather Service reminds all residents to get ready for various winter weather hazards. Packing emergency kits in cars, winterizing vehicles, and ensuring proper functioning of heating equipment and insulation systems in homes are a few ways to prepare for colder weather. Podrazik says the National Weather Service issues advisories, watches, and warnings when winter weather conditions will likely become dangerous in the area.
