Jefferson Intermediate School in Pella hosted an annual Veteran’s Day presentation.

Students sang patriotic songs, read poems and shared their thanks to those who served, as well as their friends and family members in attendance.

Pella Store Director Derek Sparks tells KNIA/KRLS News they served 451 veterans and spouses Friday morning, 130 more than last year. He is thankful for all who stopped by Hy-Vee this morning for their service, but would like to recognize in particular Gary Gezel, who celebrated his 98th birthday. Gezel served as General Eisenhower’s mechanic in Africa in World War II. He was greeted with a birthday announcement and a balloon bouquet.
