Several public safety changes are being instituted in Knoxville.
Knoxville City Manager tells KNIA/KRLS News a Lieutenant’s position has been approved for the overnight shift in the Knoxville Police Department. The shift was previously uncovered by a Lieutenant. In the Knoxville Fire Department some part-time positions are being eliminated to allow for two full time paramedic firefighters. Adams says the city hopes to see improved response times and coverage to keep the public safe from threats. Adams says the changes are revenue neutral, meaning they will have no impact on the budget.
