A former prisoner of war is coming to Pleasantville to speak about his experiences at the beginning of December.

Retired Naval Commander Larry Spencer, an Iowa native and seven-year resident of the infamous “Hanoi Hilton” prison in North Vietnam will visit Memorial Hall in Pleasantville on December 3 at 6 p.m. Dennis Murphy and Gordon Mecham with the Pleasantville American Legion Post tell KNIA/KRLS News remembering and recognizing the sacrifices of POW’s is important everyday.Murphy says that will Spencer was imprisoned, he traveled the country, had children, and spent time with his wife. Spencer gave up many opportunities for his country. All members of public are invited to attend the talk, which is free and open to the public.
